How does Chinese Medicine work?
Chinese Medicine is all about harmony and balance. Acupuncturists take your answers to specific questions we ask everyone, we take your radial pulse in your wrist, and we look at your tongue to assess the flow of blood and Qi (energy) throughout your body and your organs. When the energy and blood can’t flow freely, there is pain. Once we get things moving how they are supposed to, there will no longer be pain. This can be a few treatments for acute issues or take a while for more chronic issues. Also, Chinese Medicine does not separate the brain from the rest of the body. So, we can treat things like anxiety, depression, PTSD and other mental health concerns. Trauma that happens to us can manifest in the body in many different ways, and we view the body as a whole to help patients feel better. Our focus is to help the patient recover and heal from the things going on in their bodies versus only making the pain manageable.

Will Chinese Medicine help me with my concern(s)?
Acupuncturists will dig into all available resources to help you and whatever issues are going on in your body. I get asked often if acupuncture hurts, and the answer is usually no. Sometimes you will feel the needles going in and can feel a dull achy sensation. That is the energy in your body starting to move, but it is not painful. It is startling the first few times but once you realize what that feeling is and what it means, it can be very comforting and refreshing. Be sure to ask questions that arise during your treatment, and I will do my best to explain what’s going on.
-
How long will it take for me to feel better?
Nomally, a good rule of thumb is for every year you’ve had the issue, a month of treatment is expected.
-
Do I need to do anything before my treatment?
It is recommended to eat at east 2 hours prior to your treatment. Also, wearing loose clothing is very helpful. Please bring a blanket if you tend to get cold easily.

What is MicroNeedling?
Microneedling is a minimally invasive cosmetic procedure that involves needles that are sterilized for single use and are very fine, thin, and short and puncture the skin. These needles penetrate the dermis and epidermis. This creates micro-injuries, which brings new collagen and elastin to the dermis. This activates new cell growth. It is a natural alternative to Botox, and can be completed once per month. Microneedling is a great option for those interested in decreasing fine lines and wrinkles, acne scars and other scars, hair loss, and/or reducing cellulite. Microneedling can be used on the face and head, chest, and hands.
-
What can Microneedling be used for?
Firming and tightening the skin
Reducing deeper fine lines and wrinkles
Brightening complexion & reduce pore size
Reducing acne, acne scars, and stretchmarks
Reducing the visibility of cellulite
Reducing hair loss and creating new hair growth

Who should NOT receive Microneedling?
Patients who are on anticoagulants, pregnant, have taken Accutane within the past 3 months, or have received Botox in the past month should not receive microneedling. Also, those with active acne, local infections such as warts, moderate to severe chronic skin diseases such as eczema and psoriasis, blood dyscrasias, extreme keloidal tendency, patients on chemo/radiotherapy, or those with herpes zoster outbreak. Those with sensitive skin and over the age of 70-75 should choose Nanoneedling. If any patient has had any of the following treatments within the past month, they also should not receive Microneedling: microdermabrasion, chemical peels, laser skin resurfacing (LSR), botulinum toxin, dermal fillers, and IPL.
-
Is there anything I should do before my Microneedling treatment?
Yes! Please do not use any oil on your face for 24 hours before your treatment, do not wear make-up to your appointment, and do not put any lotions on your face before your appointment.
-
What can I expect after Microneedling?
The area will most likely be red for 8-12 hours after treatment (aloe vera can help). Do not use any oils on your face 24 hours before or 48 hours after treatment. Do not exercise until the day after your treatment, as sweat can irritate the face. Stay out of the sun at least the day of your treatment, and use mineral sunscreen at least a week after your treatment (although, you should use this daily). Do not wear makeup the day of your treatment. Use hyaluronic acid and/or the serum provided after your treatment, especially when your face feels dry and before bed. If you notice your face “flaking”, this is from the hyaluronic acid and just add some water to your face. Do not use any facial cleansers after your treatment, just wash with warm water before bed.
-
How long do Microneedling results last?
Results are usually seen within 2-3 treatments (or sooner), and last 3-5 years.
-
What is Nanoneedling?
Nanoneedling is similar to Microneedling, except rather than needles, silicone is used to slightly penetrate through the epidermis (the most superficial skin layer). Due to how gentle this option is, this can be performed once a week, thus making it a wonderful option for those weeks in between Microneedling. Nanoneedling is also the best option for those with sensitive skin and those over 70 years old.
-
What can Nanoneedling be used for?
Pigmentation correction
Rejuvenate skin
Fine lines & wrinkles
Swelling
